Dumpstaphunk ~ Kicks off Tour in NYC

The funkiest band in the land played a great two set late show last
night at Sullivan Hall in NYC.

Ivan Neville and this all-star funk band are starting to take off big time. And it's well deserved.

Dumpsta's set at Mountain Jam IV is not to be missed folks!

Last night a packed house witnessed a number of local musicians stop by for a good ole fashion sit in. Throughout the late night set, NYC residents Eric Krasno (Soulive, Lettuce) on guitar , Cheme (Robert Walters 20th Congress, Dap-Kings) on Alto Sax, Adam Deitch on Drums and some dude named Warren Haynes performed with the New Orleans Phunkatiers.

Dumpstaphunk features an uber talented all-star New Orleans line-up. Joining Ivan Neville is: Nick Daniels, Tony Hall, Raymond Weber and Ian Neville.

Warren Haynes appeared at the end of the group’s first set on Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Fortunate Son” and Alabama 3’s "Woke Up," also know as the Sopranos theme song.

What a great night in the city. Grace Potter & The Nocturnals were also playing Lincoln Center last night and MMW are in town, so we had a little mini Mountain Jam preview of sorts!

After the two smokin' hot Dumpsta sets, the happy crowd walked out into the NYC late night to a beautiful snow storm.

Bob Weir & Ratdog

Leading up to Thursdays announcement of Ratdog as the Mountain Jam Festival closer on Sunday night, there was much speculation as to what artist(s) would take that coveted position. The chatter around the web mostly centered around a possible return of Phil & Friends or an appearance of The Allman Brothers band.
While those are obvious possibilities and would have been fantastic choices, I am very excited about the addition of Bob Weir into the Mountain Jam mix.

As one of the core musical icons that gave birth to the jam band genre, Weir will put his own stamp on this years festival. Those in attendance on the mountain side will not be disappointed. From what I have heard, Sundays artist line-up start to finish is just spectacular and will offer up something special for everyone. The promise of juicy guest sit-ins of multiple musical icons will undoubtedly be on the menu. Ratdog has been playing some of their best shows ever of late. This could prove to be one of their best ever on the mountain under the stars.

MOUNTAIN JAM TO RETURN

TO HUNTER, NY MAY 30-JUNE 1

GOV’T MULE TO HEADLINE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

LEGENDARY BAND DRUMMER LEVON HELM

TO MAKE RARE FESTIVAL APPEARANCE

(Woodstock, NY) - Radio Woodstock and acclaimed guitarist Warren Haynes (Gov't Mule, The Allman Brothers Band, The Dead) have once again teamed up to bring the fourth annual Mountain Jam Music Festival (www.mountainjam.com) to New York’s Hunter Mountain from Friday, May 30th-Sunday, June 1st.

For the fourth year in a row, Gov't Mule will anchor the weekend-long event with a pair of two-set performances. Mountain Jam will also feature a rare festival appearance by Levon Helm, who will perform material from his Grammy-nominated Dirt Farmer and a selection of The Band’s signature songs. Tickets will go on sale Friday, February 1 at 10 am through www.mountainjam.com and www.mule.net

As in years past, Mountain Jam will offer a wide scope of music, including the third appearance by Michael Franti & Spearhead, Citizen Cope, Drive By Truckers, Dark Star Orchestra, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Galactic, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, JJ Grey & Mofro, and Jim Weider. Medeski, Martin & Wood, who turned in memorable Mountain Jam performances in both 2005 and 2006, will return with jazz legend John Scofield, who made his Mountain Jam debut last spring with Phil Lesh & Friends. The festival will also showcase rising stars like The Felice Brothers, Jackie Greene, Pnuma Trio, and Lotus. More bands will be announced in the near future.

Radio Woodstock's Gary Chetkof said, "This is such a special time for Levon, with his Lifetime Achievement Award and Grammy nomination. It is an honor to have Levon on the bill this year and I know Levon and Warren love jamming together.”

Added Haynes, “I personally get involved with Radio Woodstock in the music selection and it is such a breath of fresh air to be involved with people who play music for the right reasons. That is the connection among all the bands we try to book.”

The festival’s forward thinking Awareness Village will once again host Rock The Earth, a not-for-profit environmental advocacy group, Headcount, which promotes voter registration, and Community Energy, a company committed to increasing the domestic supply of clean, fuel-free energy. The festival pledges to increase its environmental efforts thanks to recycling and post event clean-up provided by Clean Vibes. Mountain Jam will also donate 50 cents per festival ticket sold to HeadCount's Cents For Sense program, which will help register voters for the 2008 presidential election.

Originally conceived as a single-day celebration timed with Radio Woodstock's 25th anniversary, Mountain Jam has blossomed into a three-day, multi-stage event, featuring onsite camping, a full Awareness Village, and one of the northeast’s most pristine natural amphitheaters. For the first time, Mountain Jam will also host outdoor late night performances by marquee acts like Galactic and the Dark Star Orchestra on both Friday and Saturday nights. These starlit performances will complement the festival’s already popular late night offerings by dance bands like Lotus and the Pnuma Trio in the enclosed Hunter Mountain Lodge.

The Hunter Mountain Lodge will provide fans with 24-hour access to both food and indoor bathrooms, while onsite camping and a smorgasbord of nearby hotels and lodges will ensure that all attendees will have a comfortable stay. This year Mountain Jam will also offer an expanded VIP option, featuring a shaded hospitality tent, a variety of food and beverages and, even, full concierge service.

Hunter Mountain is located within a short drive from anywhere in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, and is considered the unofficial kick off to the Northeast festival season. Fans unable to attend will be able to experience the music as well, thanks to the festival’s interactive blog and innovative webcast, which drew close to 50,000 viewers in 2007.

Mountain Jam passes will be available at www.mountainjam.com and www.mule.net beginning Friday, February 1 at 10 am. Early Bird tickets for a 3-Day Pass are only $115 or $145, including camping. Prices will increase when the early bird allotments run out. A limited number of single-day passes for Sunday will be made available soon for $75 in advance and $85 the day of show. A limited number of RV passes will also be made available.
