The toothpick-skinny Bernie Pociask of Salisbury, Conn., rumpled, white hair aflutter, in his American flag T-shirt and stained suspenders, was waxing about the importance of music and love.

"The one thing that everyone has in common," he said, "is music. And music is happiness.

"Nobody could argue with that theory — smiles adorned the crowd during the final day of Mountain Jam V at Hunter Mountain.
