SATURDAY.... Here we go again!

Good day all!

Very well rested today with a big ass smile on my face after a fantastic first day here at Mt Jam 2007! It is a gorgeous day here in the high altitude. The backdrop of the mountain is spectacular. The concert field makes for an amazing natural amphitheater so the sound is pristine and the vibe is the better than at any festival I have been to. I'm not just saying that. Everyone is so laid back, you can pick an nice spot a little ways up the hill and throw down a blanket and chairs or make your way right to the front rail. Just smiling faces all around. This festival is so fan friendly. Everything here is done with the fans in mind which makes for the best possible experience.

Wanna Day One Recap? sure ya do....
Well... the weather held out with just one little sprinkle early on, then blue skies and a sight line to the peak of Hunter Mountain. The Gov't Mule show was clearly the highlight of the day musically. The Set List speaks for itself. From top to bottom they went outside of themselves to pull off one of the best Mule shows I've seen, and I seen a lot of em! "Creep" opener to "Little Wing" Closer, with an off the charts "No Quarter" in between! They were all on fire and you could tell the band was havin just as much fun as the crowd. When that happens.... thats when you can get a really special show.

"Lets see... I think a "Creep" opener would be cool...."
pickin out the set list for the evening

Next on my list no doubt was the bad boys from NOLA. The super group brought together right after Katrina. These guys, legends all in there own right. Ivan Neville, Leo Nocentelli
George Porter, Henry Butler & Raymond Weber just threw down and had the masses boggyin hard. There was a special guest sit in as well... I forget who though....hmmm oh yeah it was Warren... and it was fireworks. Watching Warren and George Porter Jr. together again was worth the price of admition right there. The call and answer swirling guitar licks between Warren and Leo was a sight to see. Leo so cool with his fly shades blazing the frets of his blue Gibson hollow body axe. Ivan Neville just bringing down the house with his heartfelt vocals during John Fogarty's "Fortunate Son". After the set we sat down with them for an interview. Look for me to post some of that later on.

R A Q was great...loved the "Maybe I'm Amazed" cover which was not originally on the set list.
Papa Mali always great...

Just an awesome event and leave it to Warren to make sure we have such fantastic fan friendly things like this blog and the live stream. Was brokenhearted to have to miss this event but this almost makes up for it. Simply terrific!!
