ELYSIUM THEORY: REVIEW AND PICS

Review by Drew North, Pictures by James Orr

If you like thumping-riff heavy psychadelic space rock, Elysium Theory is for you. I don't know what an Elysium Theory is but after seeing these guys, I want to get into it! As the Mountain Jam contest winners this year, they certainly deserve this big break (and it's all thanks to your votes). The music was tight and guys really commanded the stage well. Using samples and heavy riffs, their polyrythmic sound ripped through the air, kicking off Mountain Jam VI in true rock and roll fashion. I can safely say that the band follows in the footsteps of Rush and Tool delivering a truly unique sound filled with dreamscape-like songs and they definitely delivered the goods. It was a great start to the first day at Mountain Jam.

For more on the guys, click here to check out their website and check out more from their debut CD "Modern Alchemy". Be sure to keep it locked for more updates from the festival all weekend long.
