HeadCount @ Mtn Jam!

As always, our good friends at HeadCount will be on hand registering voters and asking people “What’s Your Issue?” Be sure to head on over and say hello at their booth. Get involved and of course if you haven't already... register to vote!

Founded in 2004 by Marc Brownstein, bass player for the electronic rock band The Disco Biscuits, and author and journalist Andy Bernstein, HeadCount has grown from an entirely grassroots operation into a professionally-managed, widely-respected force in youth voter mobilization. This year it fielded street teams in over 40 cities and sent volunteers on the road with 10 different concert tours.

As always, Mountain Jam's own Warren Haynes threw maj
or support behind the organization this year. Many of your favorite artists are helping cover the costs of having volunteers join their tours. Dozens of bands and concert promoters host HeadCount volunteers locally, helping the organization register over 53,000 voters at live music events.

“Generous backing from artists and the live music industry
was a key to this year’s success,” said Andy Bernstein, HeadCount’s Executive Director.
“Our voter registration campaign was built around a series of interlocking partnerships between bands, promoters, media outlets, and other nonprofit organizations.”

HeadCount aims to become "the community organizing arm of the live music scene," giving every socially conscious music fan an avenue toward activism.

What’s your Issue?

HeadCount wants to know what issues facing America concern you the most. So they’ve put together a survey asking what three issues you think should be the top priority for our elected officials. They’ll then stage letter-writing and awareness campaigns based on the results of this survey.

While you’re at it, please tell us which three HeadCount-affiliated bands are your favorite.
